Another very convenient function is the needle position button, which lets you choose the needle up or down position without turning the handwheel by hand. Simply press the button and the needle will move to the position you need.
The speed control slider on the front panel lets you change the sewing speed independently of the foot pedal. This is very convenient for intricate operations that require precision, or when sewing thick items that do not need high speed. With the slider set to minimum, the machine will sew at minimum speed however hard you press the pedal, which matters a lot when sewing thick items such as denim.
