Special needle plate for straight stitching

On DX series machines the needle plate design lets you close the wide plate opening when sewing straight stitches. This quickly turns the machine into a semi-industrial straight-stitch machine that handles both very thin and heavy fabrics with ease.

Wide range of fabrics and thread cutting at the push of a button

Fine silk does not pucker, while knits, heavy denim or coat fabrics are sewn without effort, even through several layers. You can even repair a leather handbag.

When you finish sewing, just press the button with the scissors symbol and the threads are cut automatically.

Automatic bobbin winding

Place the bobbin on the winder and push the lever: the machine starts winding by itself and stops when the bobbin is full. There is no need to press the foot control or release the handwheel.

Preparing the bobbin thread is simple: no threading is needed, just guide it along the special path and cut it with the cutter built into the needle plate.

Box feed

In ordinary domestic machines the feed dogs move in an ellipse, while in the DX series they move at right angles, as in industrial straight-stitch machines. This keeps fabric from puckering and slippery fabrics from shifting, and gives an even stitch on both light and heavy fabrics.

Easy operation selection

Operations are selected with buttons on the front of the machine. A clear chart on the flip-up cover means you rarely need to open the manual.

Thread cutting with the foot control

When you finish sewing, press the foot control the other way and the machine cuts the upper and bobbin threads, as industrial machines do. No more cutting long ends with scissors or pulling the thread, which can pucker the seam.

Threads can also be cut with a button next to the START&STOP button (handy when sewing without the foot control), or automatic cutting at the end of an operation can be switched on.

Improved fabric feed

Steel feed dogs and a reinforced presser foot mount help the machine move from thin sections to thick ones, for example when sewing denim or coat fabrics. Over thick spots the stitch does not bunch up or skip.

16 buttonhole styles

A special sensor helps sew buttonholes, so the result is neat whatever the fabric. You can choose the buttonhole style to suit the fabric, change its width and density, and stitch the buttonhole twice or even three times in one operation.

Large work area

A convenient, large work platform. It can be enlarged further with an extension table. The table is included with the HZL-DX7 and available separately for the HZL-DX5 and HZL-DX3.

Presser foot pressure adjustment and LED lighting

Multi-step presser foot pressure adjustment makes it easy to sew a wide range of fabrics.

LED lights brightly illuminate the work area, do not burn out and use very little electricity. Lights are fitted in several places.

Knee lifter

The presser foot can be raised by nudging a lever with your knee, leaving your hands free. The lever is included with the HZL-DX7 and HZL-DX5, and available separately for the HZL-DX3.

Large START&STOP button

The button sits close to your thumb while your hands guide the fabric, so you do not have to look away from your work. It lights green when the foot is down and the machine is ready, and red when the foot is raised, which protects the machine from starting accidentally.
