A computerised JUKI DX series sewing machine with 185 stitches, including 16 buttonhole types. Suitable for the home, small sewing workshops and clothing alteration shops.
JUKI is one of the largest manufacturers of industrial sewing machines, and the DX series uses a number of industrial machine solutions: box feed, thread trimming with the foot control, knee lifter and steel feed dogs.
The machine sews a wide range of fabrics, from thin silk to jersey, denim, coat fabrics and leather. Thin fabrics do not pucker, and on thick sections the stitches do not bunch up or skip.
Features
Straight stitch needle plate
A distinctive feature of the DX series is a special needle plate design that closes the large plate opening when sewing a straight stitch. This quickly turns the machine into a semi-industrial straight stitcher that comfortably sews both the thinnest and the thickest fabrics.
Closing the plate opening
Thin fabric is no longer pulled into the opening, so even a seam on very thin silk stays smooth.
Thread cutting at the touch of a button
When you finish sewing, just press the button with the scissors symbol and the threads are cut automatically.
Automatic bobbin winding
Place the bobbin on the winder and push the lever: the machine starts winding by itself and stops when the bobbin is full. There is no need to press the foot control or release the handwheel clutch.
There is no need to thread the bobbin thread: guide it along the special path and cut it with the cutter built into the needle plate.
Box feed
On ordinary home machines the feed dogs move in an ellipse, while on the DX series they move in a rectangular path, as on industrial straight stitch machines. This way the fabric does not pucker, slippery fabrics do not shift, and stitches are even on both light and heavy fabrics.
Simple stitch selection
Stitches are selected with buttons on the front of the machine. A clear chart is printed on the fold-up lid, so you rarely need to open the manual.
Thread cutting with the foot control
When you finish sewing, pressing the foot control in the opposite direction makes the machine cut the upper and lower threads, as on industrial machines. There is no longer any need to cut long ends with scissors or pull the thread, which can pucker the seam.
The threads can also be cut with the button next to the START&STOP button (handy when sewing without the foot control), or automatic cutting at the end of a stitch can be switched on.
Improved fabric feed
Steel feed dogs and a reinforced presser foot mount help the machine move from thin sections to thick ones, for example when sewing denim or coat fabrics. On thick sections the stitches do not bunch up or skip.
16 buttonhole types
A special sensor helps sew buttonholes, so the result is neat whatever the fabric. You can choose the buttonhole type to suit the fabric, change its width and density, and sew a buttonhole twice or even three times in one operation.
Large working area
A comfortable large work surface that can be extended with an extension table. For the DX5 model the table is not part of the standard package.
Presser foot pressure and LED lighting
Multi-step presser foot pressure adjustment helps you adapt to various fabrics.
LED lights brightly illuminate the working area, do not burn out and use very little electricity. Lighting is fitted in several places.
Knee lifter
The presser foot can be raised by pushing the lever with your knee, leaving your hands free. The lever is included.
Large START&STOP button
The button is close to your thumb while your hands hold the fabric, so you do not need to take your eyes off the work. It lights green when the presser foot is down and the machine is ready to sew, and red when the foot is raised, when the machine is protected against accidental starting.
Automatic needle threader
The automatic threading mechanism threads the needle.
Stand for industrial thread cones
A thread stand for large industrial cones can be used with DX series machines. The stand is ordered separately.
